Upgrade Steps

Here are the instructions for upgrading to the new version. Please note that there are separate instructions for users upgrading from version 2.0.300 and higher and those using versions 1.x.
Before you begin:
  • Ensure that you are logged in with Admin rights.
  • BrowseReporter is supported on Windows 2000 Pro/Server, 2003 Server, XP or Vista.
  • If you have a Firewall in place, enable access to ports 3050, 8996, and 8997.
Upgrade from version 2.0.300 and higher
A. Upgrading BrowseReporter Server/Console
BrowseReporter Server/Console
  1. Close the BrowseReporter Console.
  2. Make a backup of the following file:
    Program Files\Currentware\BrowseReporter\BRServer\CWBRFBDB.GDB
  3. Download the latest version from http://www.browsereporter.com/product_download.htm
  4. Run the setup file cwBR.exe to upgrade the existing install to the latest version of BrowseReporter.
  5. Reboot the computer.
B. Upgrading BrowseReporter Client
  1. On the client system point to the BrowseReporter Server PC. Run the file cwBRClient.msi. The default location of this file is under
    Program Files\Currentware\BrowseReporter\BRClient.
  2. After the client install, if the BrowseReporter Client Service is not running, then reboot the client computer.
Upgrade from version 1.x
**Please note that data from 1.0 cannot be upgraded to the latest version.
A. Upgrading BrowseReporter Server/Console
  1. Close the BrowseReporter Console.
  2. Make a backup of the following file:
    Program Files\Currentware\BrowseReporter\BRServer\CWBRFBDB.GDB
  3. Uninstall the Server/Console component through the Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel. Reboot the PC.
  4. Delete the Currentware folder from the Program Files folder.
  5. Download the latest version from http://www.browsereporter.com/product_download.htm
  6. Run cwBR.exe (form the zip package that was downloaded) and follow the Wizard prompts.
B. Upgrading BrowseReporter Client
  1. Please shut down the BrowseReporter console.
  2. At a client PC, click on Start --> Run. Enter the following script:

    cwBrRpt.exe -p Admin -v (Please note that Admin is the default password and is case sensitive. If you changed the password during the client installation, then please substitute that password in place of Admin. )

    You will be presented with the Client interface. Click on the uninstall button.
  3. Reboot the PC.
  4. Repeat this step for all the client PCs.
  5. On the client system point to the BrowseReporter Server PC. Run the file cwbrclient.msi. This default location of this file is under
    Program Files\Currentware\BrowseReporter\BRClient\
  6. Reboot the client PC when the client has installed.
